For many states, June is the most beautiful month of the year. It is the month when roses are at their finest (hence, June is the Rose Month). Helen Keller was born in June, as was Pearl S. Buck, Andy Griffith, Morgan Freeman, and Marilyn Monroe. Therefore, it is no coincidence that one June day (an auspicious June day), we rescued a shivering and shaking wee little dog that we promptly named, June Bug (because that is a cute name and because it is the month of June and because it fits her). June Bug is likely a year-old wire-haired dachshund/terrier mix and she weighs just 10 lbs. Once June Bug was rescued, she relaxed and we have been enjoying her delightful and quirky personality. She has a very expressive face, and she can easily express joy and irritation (she was NOT happy about going to the vet for her spay and gave the stink eye to her foster mom when picked up). She LOVES riding in a car and is an excellent traveling companion. She is happiest burrowed into your lap while you watch TV and she prefers to sleep on the bed next to her human at night. She would prefer to be an only dog but could adapt to another dog in the household if the other dog is small and will not pester her. At this time, we think that she would prefer a home with mature adults who will treat her like the princess she was born to be and make her an integral part of the family.
